VALDELOSFRAILES RESERVA – A WINE OF IMMENSE PERSONALITY

Valdelosfrailes Reserva, one of the winery’s flagship reds, is made from carefully selected Tempranillo grapes from only the finest vintages. The grapes come from our oldest bush-trained vineyards and are hand-harvested. The renowned critic John Radford stated that Valdelosfrailes Reserva “is a wine of enormous quality and personality, worthy of being considered one of Spain’s finest.

A WINE OF IMMENSE PERSONALITY

The grapes used for Valdelosfrailes Reserva undergo a triple selection process. Hand-harvested in 12 kg boxes, they are cold macerated before controlled-temperature fermentation, resulting in remarkable aromatic complexity.

After alcoholic fermentation, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in new barrels. It is then aged for at least 14 months in new barrels and rests in bottle for a minimum of two additional years. The result is a surprising, complex, elegant, and well-balanced wine.

VINEYARD

The grapes come from our bush-trained vineyards (Sallana Pino, El Aguilón, Las Carretillas, and El Jarro) in the Cubillas and Corcos de Valle plateau. The soils are infertile, sandy, and shallow, producing very low yields.

Bodega Valdelosfrailes

Carlos Moro chose the name of a family estate, Valle de los Frailes, for his project in the Cigales DO. This area traditionally produced many claret wines, but his idea was to completely revamp cultivation, create a new-style winery and produce excellent red wines for ageing.

Bodega Valdelosfrailes brings modernity, technology and innovation to the classicism of a land with great potential.
