Designation of Origin Cigales
ValdelosfrailesReserva (Designation of Origin Cigales) is one of the greatest red wines of the Valdelosfrailes Winery. It is made only from the best vintages from specially selected Tempranillo variety grapes from our oldest goblet-trained vineyards in the Cubillas and Corcos del Valle moors, such as SallanaPino, El Aguilón, Las Carretillas and El Jarro.
Its fermentation has been carried out at a controlled temperature and, after a long maceration, it maturation has continued for 14 months in French and American oak barrels.
The prestigious wine critic John Radford said about ValdelosfrailesReserva that 'it is a wine of enormous quality and personality capable of being considered one of the best in Spain'.
Description
The grapes used to make ValdelosfrailesReserva require a triple selection. Grapes are harvested by hand in 12-kilo crates and then put in cold maceration at a controlled temperature in the Winery before their fermentation, thus providing a high aromatic complexity. After the alcoholic fermentation, the wine undergoes a malolactic fermentation in new barrels. Subsequently, the wine is matured for at least 14 months in new barrels and then remains in the bottle for at least two more years, resulting in a surprising, complex, elegant and balanced wine.
Tasting
This wine features a lively black cherry colour with purplish tones and clear aromas of ripe black fruit, with an elegant concentration of Chinese ink, typical of a wine from siliceous plots of old goblet-trained vineyards.
In the mouth it is a fresh and intense wine, with a very good body and structure, while fine and elegant at the same time. Black fruit flavours stand out, among elegant roasted coffee notes, mild spices, with an elegant, intense and lingering finish.

La fermentación se hace a partir de levaduras propias procedentes de esta región. Pasa 6 meses en barrica.
