A LEGENDARY WINE
Emina Atio is a highly expressive wine, aged for 18 months in the finest French Allier oak barrels. It is then refined in the bottle for a further 18 months. The wine's power, elegance and longevity are evident in the primary sensations of very ripe black fruit. Its main characteristic is its structure, marked by the origin of the grapes, which come from limestone soils poor in organic matter.
Emina Atio has a unique and distinctive character, as it bears the name of the legendary warrior, Atio, a member of the council of elders of the Vacceos tribe who fought against the Roman Empire and cultivated vines a few kilometres from Bodega Emina Ribera for more than 2000 years.
It comes from the vineyards of Pago de El Horno, in Valbuena de Duero, a very chalky plot at high altitude with excellent sunshine, located in a semi-moorland area of the Duero valley, facing south, in an area of terraces alongside the remains of ancient vineyards dating back thousands of years.
A clean, bright colour with very dark cardinal tones.
Despite its prolonged stay in new barrels, the primary aromas are perfectly blended with tertiary aromas of spices, toast, cocoa, tobacco, soft toast and cedar. Its frank nose with excellent complexity stands out. A powerful, elegant and intense wine.
A wine with character. The power, elegance and longevity of the wine are perceived in powerful primary sensations of very ripe black fruits. It is a rich and sweet wine that lingers on both the palate and in the aftertaste.
EMINA is much more than two wineries in two key designations of origin in our country, Ribera del Duero and Rueda. It owes its name to the “hemina”, the daily ration of wine that a Cistercian monk was allowed to drink.
Carlos Moro conceived the soul of Emina in the late 1990s as two projects for producing quality wines committed to sustainability and the environment. Emina Ribera is the first comprehensive winery project in the world and the first Spanish company to calculate the carbon footprint of one of its wines.
