RESERVA FRUIT OF PATIENCE

If there is one thing that characterises Bodega Matarromera, it is its ability to produce wines for ageing in the Ribera del Duero region. The key to producing Matarromera red wines lies in the raw material: the red grapes from the Golden Mile of Ribera del Duero used to make our red wines are of the highest quality and respect the identity of the wine, vintage after vintage, making Matarromera Reserva a benchmark.

What does Bodega Matarromera do? Analysing, classifying and pampering each and every one of its plots according to their agroclimatic characteristics, through the implementation of a project called San Bernardo.

The winery chose this name in honour of the monks of the Monastery of San Bernardo, as it was they who, in the 11th century, brought the method of classifying vineyards from Burgundy in order to gain an in-depth understanding of the characteristics of each plot. The Duero Valley is an area of enormous natural and heritage wealth in a privileged enclave of the Ribera del Duero. Here you will find the Monastery of Santa María de Valbuena, the origin of viticulture in this Designation of Origin.

For its reserve wines, Bodega Matarromera selects vineyards with the following characteristics:

1. Vines that are over 25 years old and have moderate vegetation, which produce smaller bunches and grapes. Why? The concentration of colour, polyphenols and other beneficial properties of the grape is higher. In short, less quantity but higher quality. Less is more! These types of vines are found mainly at higher altitudes.

2. Limestone soils located at an altitude of over 750 metres. As we have been saying, one of the greatest influences on a wine is the soil where the vineyard is planted. Limestone is a type of calcareous rock that allows good water drainage and produces full-bodied wines suitable for ageing.

WINE TASTING

Visual

This reserve wine has an intense colour with noticeable bluish tones.

Nose

Aromas of ripe black fruits with clear mineral notes typical of limestone soils. In addition, light tones of cocoa, spices and balsamic notes.

Palate

A wine with character and hints of dark chocolate that evolve into new leather and hints of pipe. An exclusive and unique wine representing a saga of iconic wines.

PAIRING

Matarromera Reserva is a very versatile wine, ideal for a good barbecue, spicy dishes, roast lamb, oxtail and blue fish.

A Ribera del Duero reserve red wine should be paired with these types of dishes, with which it achieves great contrasts and succulent harmonies on the palate.

The aromas of black fruits and mineral notes combine with the flavour of the embers and the richness of the meat.

We believe they are a good fit for you

Bodega Cyan

The name Bodega Cyan was not chosen at random. On the one hand, it represents the blue reflections characteristic of wine, but it also tells the curious story of a small bird called Cyanopica, measuring just over 30 cm, with intense blue wings and a long tail, which lives in the Toro area and in Asia.

Bodega Cyan is a charming winery located in Valdefinjas that produces limited quantities of high-quality wines from the native grape variety of the Toro Designation of Origin, Tinta de Toro.
