ELEGANT RED WINE WITH BURGUNDY ROOTS
OINOZ by Claude Gros is a red wine made from Tempranillo grapes (Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin) bearing the signature of the great French winemaker Claude Gros. He is one of the world's most renowned winemakers and a great promoter of Languedoc-Roussillon wines. He has been working with Carlos Moro and the winemaking team at Bodegas Familiares Matarromera since 1988 and produced this wine with the firm idea of ‘measuring the ageing in wood, moderating the alcohol level and providing good fruit ripeness to achieve a sensation of fullness and a pleasant volume, length and roundness on the palate’.
VINEYARD
Cool, calcareous soils in San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Labastida, in the far north of La Rioja. Old vines between 25 and 80 years old, planted on trellises and in bush vines, with limited yields and small grapes.

Nose
An intense, elegant and very complex wine, with aromas of ripe red fruit such as blackberry and redcurrant, subtle hints of black fruit such as blueberry and bilberry, with a mineral background, balanced with tertiary aromas from barrel ageing; spices such as clove and black pepper, dark chocolate, toffee and fine woods with roasted coffee.
Palate
Excellent complexity with a very long and harmonious finish with a pleasant roasted sensation.
PAIRING
This wine pairs perfectly with roast suckling pig or lamb, lamb ribs, game stews, pâtés or foie gras, very mature cheeses or red meats.

OINOZ is a modern family of wines that originates in the foothills of the Sierra de Cantabria, in San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Labastida, two of the most renowned wine-producing municipalities in the Rioja DOCa. OINOZ comes from OINOS, which means wine in Greek.
