The renowned critic Jancis Robinson said that Valdelosfrailes Pago de las Costanas “symbolizes the union of altitude and minerality.” The vines are capable of producing very concentrated fruit aroms, particularly blackberry, which are so predominant in the impoverished pebble soils over clay in Cigales.

LIVING HISTORY OF THE REGION
Made from grapes from our 125-year-old vineyards, which bring their age and wisdom to this wine. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully selected. Vines yield between 1,500 and 2,000 kilos per hectare.
Pago de las Costanas is a vineyard surrounding the Valdelosfrailes Winery, in Cubillas de Santa Marta, at 800 meters above sea level. The entire area is planted with the Tempranillo variety. Las Costanas is one of the most special vineyards of Valdelosfrailes, and its grapes are highly valued in the region.
Cardinal tones dominate, with garnet highlights.
Delicate and extremely aromatic, with notes of ripe black fruits and hints of fine woods and tobacco box, which will evolve into more spicy tones.
A broad, powerful wine with perfect balance between a persistent finish, minerality, and elegance. The harmony between strength, intensity, and refinement stands out.
Carlos Moro chose the name of a family estate, Valle de los Frailes, for his project in the Cigales DO. This area traditionally produced many claret wines, but his idea was to completely revamp cultivation, create a new-style winery and produce excellent red wines for ageing.
Bodega Valdelosfrailes brings modernity, technology and innovation to the classicism of a land with great potential.
