MATARROMERA CRIANZA

What is surprising about this iconic wine? First of all, the identity of the territory of the historic vineyards of the Matarromera, with its limestone and clay soils and harsh climate with large temperature fluctuations.

The main reason for the success of Matarromera Crianza is the Tempranillo grape from which it is made. It comes from vineyards very close to the River Duero, which produce high-quality grapes. They are located in the municipalities of Olivares and Valbuena de Duero, in Valladolid, one of the most suitable areas for growing and producing wine in Spain.

Once made, the wine is aged in selected French and American oak barrels, with a fine grain and light toasting, to best preserve the expression of the fruit. After ageing, this Matarromera wine is bottled, where it completes its refinement until it is ready to be enjoyed.

This wine has the maturity of the fruit and the power of its barrel ageing. It is aged in selected French and American oak barrels, with a fine grain and light toast, to fully respect the expression of the fruit. After ageing, this Matarromera wine is bottled, where it completes its refinement until it is ready to be enjoyed.

Who is this world-champion red wine for? For any wine lover who values elegance above all else and is looking for a safe bet.

WINE TASTING

Visual

A dark cardinal colour with abundant violet tones. Very opaque, clean and bright.

Nose

Intense and complex aromas, with powerful notes of very ripe black fruits such as blackberries, blackcurrants, sour cherries and redcurrants, in excellent harmony with spicy notes from ageing in clean wood, with roasted aromas, liquorice, coffee and vanilla.

Palate

An intense, full-bodied and elegant wine. Very broad and lively, with a generous mid-palate, thanks to the balance between strong, ripe tannins that promise an excellent future, and fruity and spicy sensations, with a powerful, voluminous finish.

PAIRING

Matarromera Crianza is a very versatile wine. It pairs perfectly with all types of Iberian cured meats such as ham and pork loin, as well as with special, cured and semi-cured cheeses. We recommend pairing it with any type of meat, both white and red. But it is also perfect for pasta or rice dishes.

The key is to enjoy every glass. We suggest preparing a platter of Iberian cured meats and cheese with local products, bread, grapes, extra virgin olive oil, sun-dried tomatoes, walnuts or almonds.

Bodega CM de Matarromera has more than 20 hectares of its own vineyards in the Rioja DOCa, one of which has been declared Singular: Viña Garugele. Since its creation in 2014, it has sought to preserve traditions by using animal traction in its old vineyards to ensure the utmost respect for the soil. In addition to its commitment to sustainability and obtaining the corresponding certifications, the century-old building that houses the winery has been restored to offer not only the best wines, but also a luxury wine tourism experience.
