Picón de Zurita is a vineyard of old clones of the Tempranillo variety located on the right bank of the River Duero. A red wine that reflects the winemaking tradition of the Carlos Moro family, who, in this extraordinary area for vine cultivation in Olivares de Duero, have selected the most emblematic vineyard, where their ancestors have cultivated vines since time immemorial, to produce a unique wine.

YEARS OF WINE-MAKING TRADITION
Picón de Zurita is a vineyard of old clones with loamy, sandy soils and alluvial topsoil, and an extreme climate due to its high altitude of 750 metres. It is a flat plot with a vineyard that is over 100 years old, which perfectly regulates its production and expresses its terroir. It is one of the oldest plots that winemaker and entrepreneur Carlos Moro has in the Ribera del Duero.
The grapes from this vineyard are carefully tended by hand, undergo a triple selection of bunches and berries using an artificial vision system, and undergo alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks before undergoing malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels. The wine is then aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels.
An intense, vibrant cardinal red wine with purple tones.
Aromas of tart black fruits with hints of Indian ink and dark chocolate, accompanied by notes of cedar and ebony wood, cloves and roasted coffee.
A wine with fruity notes, hints of cloves and thyme, and new wood.
Behind the initials of its creator, winemaker and entrepreneur Carlos Moro, lie wines, several oenological gems that take us to the heart of Rioja Alta, specifically to San Vicente de la Sonsierra.
Bodega CM de Matarromera has more than 20 hectares of its own vineyards in the Rioja DOCa, one of which has been declared Singular: Viña Garugele. Since its creation in 2014, it has sought to preserve traditions by using animal traction in its old vineyards to ensure the utmost respect for the soil. In addition to its commitment to sustainability and obtaining the corresponding certifications, the century-old building that houses the winery has been restored to offer not only the best wines, but also a luxury wine tourism experience.
