A RIBERA THAT BREAKS THE RULES
Matarromera Prestigio was created with three objectives in mind: to produce a unique, special wine that reflects the excellence of its Valbuena de Duero vineyards; to break with traditional wine ageing rules (crianza, reserva, gran reserva, etc.); and to give free rein to the creative spirit of its creator. The result is a resounding red wine from selected vineyards in the golden mile of the Ribera del Duero.
In this sense, it is only produced in excellent vintages. Although it is a wine that follows its own rules, its philosophy is based on nine months of ageing in French oak barrels and nine months in American oak. It then rests for two years in the bottle.
Matarromera Prestigio is made from grapes grown in Matarromera's emblematic terroir, “Pago de las Solanas”. Its excellent exposure to sunlight and location in a peculiar narrowing of the Duero valley, which concentrates the convection winds every day, make this plot unique.
The enormous quality and uniqueness of its grapes and the care with which they are harvested are, at this point, taken for granted.

Nose
Aroms of tart black fruit, cherry, blackberry and redcurrant, alongside riper black fruit such as blackberry, in harmony with complex ageing notes, spicy clove and black pepper, fine woods, fine roasted notes, liquorice and dark cocoa, with a hint of minerality. Good structure with an intense backbone of sweet tannins.
Palate
A wine of excellent complexity of flavours with ripe black fruit, balsamic sensations of aromatic plants, roasted new wood, sweet lactones and spices of pepper and liquorice. Velvety, long and very elegant finish.
PAIRING
This wine is ideal for surprising yourself and others, and pairs well with mature cheeses or a good Castilian stew such as this oxtail dish. This wine can accompany dishes with their own personality. Matarromera Prestigio is a wine with great personality, produced at the Matarromera winery under the oenological guidance of its president, Carlos Moro.
